Motivation

Yaar... the weather is very bad out here ... aur mujhko thandi lag rahi hai... mummy bachaao... tommorrow we had a test scheduled which got postponed on monday (Tabhi to Adi blog pe aaram furma rahein hain)... Newayz... prevs nite I was tryin study a bit... but cudn't... motivation nahin tha na boss.... Ab this motivation thing is sersly crap... but really reqd... ny work... whatever is there... to do that u need great motivation... Its the real essence behind everything...
I tell u a story... there was this company called Western Electric.. They propounded their market campaign sayin "More light so more productivity" They actually started a study which later was very famous as Hawthorne Studies... newayz they started it.. took two rooms... One was control one ( yahan sab kuch normal tha)... nd the other was test one ( yahan lights dim thi)... Then they start experimentin... But to there sheer surprise ... productivity was same... Fir se try kiya ... same results... Now Gadab kahan hai boss... So they actuall called a Harvard Guy to find out the results... then Harvard waala did his high fundaa work... nd to everybody's amazement found motivation to be behind all this... the grp recvn less light was actually a very highly motivated grp... kyunki manager used to come there nd ask bout there problems... Waise I also fell short of motivation some times... but let me tell u ma secret now... I watch this piece of video... nd I really feel charged after seein this.... Kudos to Pacino who carried this so well....
Here is the video

So finally the way I spend a weekend changed...

After a long time ... I really had a perfect weekend... got up at 10:30 am in the morning.. ( dont laugh... aaj to jaldi utha tha..) Attended my saturday breakfast.. (this is a thing which happens once in a bluemoon :D )... then I took a bath in the morning (b4 12 noon, Last time this happened was when I left for home.. 7th of dec '07 .. hi hi..) newayz... My bike was askin for a service .. so 2day i decided to grant him the wish (Now bike should be addressed as her.. But I m sayin him... guess karo... ?? Arre yaar bajaj pulsar... definitely male ;) ) newayz..

I told ma friend that 2day I will give a tr8 to him as well.... Sersly boss... I will really go bankrupt treatin ma friends for ma job... so we set out... left the bike in service centre... then we moved to the newly opened mall nearby... Sersly tellin we had no intention of seein the movie Halla Bol.. But kuch to karna tha na ... so we went in... Mind me when I say.. go watch this movie if u r really a protagonost like I m... this movie greatly satires on the glamsham world which poses as youth icon in the media bamboozle... nd irony is that the protagonist character was himself a part of it initially... luved the movie the way it was prior to intermission.. became a bore post that... great dialogues..

"Saala khud ko chot lagti hai to jaanwar bhi rota hai, insaan wo hai jo doosre ke dard ko mahsoos kare"..

Since I am a theatre person.... so really liked the nukkad stuff nd Halla bol concept.. worth watchin... So like all other bolly dramas ... this movie also had a stereotyped happy endin.. jahan sab khush khush chalta hai... I mean its ok... but gimme a break... well Raj kumar santoshi did a gr8 wrk... cool boss... make some more stuff like this nd I will b there in theatre... Chalo then we moved to the Pizza Hut... Hey I really liked the new menu on the board... specially the fusili with mushroom sauce.. awesome.. a subtle delight..

Well the one thing I luv in these malls is Candy Shop... I just love Candies... cmmon brother .. put 2 piece of this one.. 5 of that... nd my list goes on.. until it really weighs my pocket out... nd these candy delights followed me for rest of my detour to the mall shops... today was not my shoppin time... so like n intersted customer I went all thru it (Chewing candies)... but bought nthin 2day.. i know I m feelin guilty... buhooooo... newayz next time aaj ki kasar bhi nikaal loonga... then we left the mall picked up the bike... nd went back to collge...

Nd we had this guest presentation from Prof Debashish Chatterjee... with MIT nd Harvard names attached to his name... the workshop was aptly titled "Breakfree"... really the stuff was out of the blue... I have heard that most of the Harvard guys are lethal in their prez's ... nd that's wat I really luv bout harvard guyz... But to my utter surprise.. this guy was really serene and subtle... pulled off the whole prez wonderfully... nd I thot.. yaar am I free myself?.. Am I still thinkin?.. The conventional mindset is that post placements people are into leisure time till the end of bachelor's... takin recourse to statements such as Arre aisa mauka fir kahan milega... nd .. Arre ye hi din hai njoi karne ke... but I thot yaar.. itna bhi paani na uchaale ki dimaag ko jung lag jaaye.... Are we still thinkin... then I rembrd smthin I saw on a tourist from LA, his shirt was sayin... Think, Its not illegal yet .... nd I rembrd a grin on my face at the mere thot... the Harvard guy finished brilliantly... nd we went bk to the familiar abode... the hostel room of mine... Since then I m playin Prince of Persia the two thrones ( oi ek baar clear kar liya hai... dubara khel raha hoon)... nd when Boss ko nahin uda paaya ... to frust hoke band kar diya... read some blogs nd here I am writin ma blog... Chalo guys hav a gudnite...

Indra Nooyi

Well, in the morning, after bunking two lectures in a row we were chatting on some stuff.. the talk took off from the whopping success of the Reliance Power IPO... and was steered on too the Indians who have made it big in and the Corporate social responsibility(CSR).. While we were discussin this stuff.. I brought in the discussion of Mrs. Indra Nooyi... the fluttering flag of Indian Women power and capabilities... So here I scrippled some wikipaedia stuff on Indra... thot it will be worth reading....

Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi (born October 28, 1955 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) is the chairman and chief executive officer of PepsiCo, the world's fourth-largest food and beverage company. On August 14, 2006, Nooyi was named the successor to Steve Reinemund as chief executive officer of the company. She was effectively appointed as CEO by PepsiCo's board of directors on October 1, 2006. According to the polls Forbes magazine conducted, Nooyi ranks fifth on the 2007 list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women. Nooyi has been named the #1 Most Powerful Woman in Business in 2006 and 2007 by Fortune magazine.

She received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Madras Christian College in 1974, and immediately entered the PGDBA (Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration) program at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. After graduating from IIM-C in 1976, she worked in India for several years (including a stretch at Madura Coats). She was admitted to Yale School of Management in 1978 for a master's degree in Management. Following her master's degree from Yale in 1980, Nooyi started at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), from where she moved on to strategy positions at Motorola and ABB.

Nooyi is a Successor Fellow at Yale Corporation and serves on the board of directors of several organizations, including Motorola, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the International Rescue Committee, and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Among her friends are former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who describes her as a "wild New York Yankees fan."

She joined PepsiCo in 1994, was named president and CFO in 2001. On August 14, 2006, she was named the CEO of PepsiCo, becoming the fifth CEO in PepsiCo's 42-year history.

While at PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi has played a vital role in starting Tricon, which is currently known as Yum! Brands Inc. Nooyi recommended spinning off Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut, arguing PepsiCo couldn't bring enough value to the fast food industry. Nooyi also took the lead in the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998, and merger with Quaker Oats Co. She is also noted for promoting the concept of "performance with purpose," aiming to make PepsiCo a leader in offering healthy foods and hiring a diverse workforce.

According to BusinessWeek, since she became CEO, the company's annual revenues have risen 72%, while net profit more than doubled, to $5.6 billion in 2006.

Nooyi was named on Wall Street Journal's list of 50 women to watch in 2005, and in 2007 was listed among Time's 100 Most Influential People in The World.

The Media Moghul...

Well .. to start with I wud just ask u.. whether u have seen the Bond flick.. Tomorrow never dies.. If yes then u must b remberin " Eliot Cowart" Yes he was indeed a media moghul.. the man who can change the govts with a single broadcast... the man with a power to sprout revolutions... Indeed the power of media has shown itself many a times... The closest approximation to the portrayed Cowart is Rupert Murdoch... well the name is synonymous with News corporation... for the less informed I wud say his name is synonymous with 20th Century FOX.. STAR... The Times. etc.. Accoladed as the biggest deal maker of all times... Murdoch is indeed the biggest name in the media buzz...

Here I m citin the key management lessons from career of Rupert Murdoch
  1. Go with the Flow:Only the pragmatic survive in the corporate war zone
  2. Goodby Mr. Nice Guy:Nice guys finish second.. In this world ruthlessness is expected
  3. Place ur bets: Thrive on risk nd the bigger the stakes the bigger the buzz nd bigger the payout
  4. Lead from the Front: 4get ideas bout empowerment.. get on nd lead
  5. King of the Nitty Gritty: Dont hesitate to bug ur execs even at 2 am in the nite
  6. DNA Marketing: Hard sell is an instinct, an automatic impulse
  7. Speed Freaks: Stay fast nd furious... take ur decsns fast.. tht will give u the compttv edge
  8. Think tomorrow 2day: Its all about seizin the future
  9. Ambition never dies: Ask for more.. one ambition ends .. other begins...
  10. Drive the company: Keep on moving and changing... after all to even stay static u need to change..
I thot .. these are great... just put em up... do post ur vies on Murdoch's lesson
